LA FAMILIA / DIE FAMILIE

CL/NO/VE 2017, D: Gustavo Rondón Córdova, 82 Min.
Fiction, OV with Eng. ST, with German voice-over, released for 12+, recommended for 14+

LA FAMILIA recounts the story of twelve-year-old Pedro and his father. Pedro and his friends spend their time on the streets of a rough neighbourhood in Venezuela’s capital Caracas. Aggression and an atmosphere of violence surround their everyday lives. In a fight, Pedro hurts another boy so badly that he and his father flee the neighbourhood. Only during their flight do the passionate Pedro and his rather cautious father slowly grow closer. The film depicts a Caracas in which food, medicine, water, and electricity are lacking and where everyone is out for themselves. It documents the city’s contrasts and at the same time reflects its beauty.
