OSKAR’S AMERICA / OSKARS AMERIKA
NO/SE 2017, D: Torfinn Iversen, 79 Min.
Fiction, OV with Eng. ST, with German voice-over, released for 6+, recommended for 9+
Oskar is ten years old and dreams of riding a horse through the North American prairie. When it appears that his mother will be starting a new job in the United States of all places, he hopes to be joining her soon. Until then he has to spend the summer holidays with his grandfather. As the grumpy old man shows little interest in him, Oskar bonds with the outsider Levi. Together they want to cross the Atlantic to reach America. Touching and sensitive, this debut tells of big dreams and an extraordinary friendship. In a barren Nordic landscape, the film skilfully plays with the typical look of westerns.
Nominated for the Children’s Jury’s “Crystal Bear for the Best Film” at Berlin International Film Festival 2017
