Following the end of the student demonstrations in Québec known as the ‘Maple Spring’ in 2012, the anger of many students has not receded. The film focusses on four young people who have joined together to form a radical revolutionary cell. Frustrated and irate, they are driven by ideals and a vague longing for a different life, attempting to emancipate themselves from the previous generation through violent upheaval. Ruthless and provocative, this thought experiment derives its power from the unbridled rage and uncompromising radicalism of its protagonists. The Gestus of the radical is also reflected in the aesthetics of this demanding, multi-layered work of art.
