CH 2015, Director: Niklaus Hilber, 92 min., feature film, OV with English subtitles, released 12, recommended 14

There are big-mouthed show-offs, shy, sensitive types, bullies, and those bullied in every school film. In AMATEUR TEENS, the struggle for recognition has spread to the Internet. The everyday life of 14-year-olds is ruled by self-presentation on social networks, cruelty via WhatsApp, Chatroom flirtation, dates with strangers, and confusing pornography. Who’s cool and who’s not depends on the number of your Facebook friends and sexual partners. Caught between reality and appearances, individual needs and peer pressure, the teenagers head for tragedy. This coming-of-age drama doesn’t judge its young protagonists: the kids are all right…the problem is society. (MK)

»An ironic portrait of the love and suffering of modern teenagers – as uncomfortable and affectionate as puberty itself.«
Leif Horn, age 21, Beckmann’s Schulzeitung
