While white people live in houses with pools, Dujuan and his family live in a camp. At school the boy learns about Captain Cook, but nothing about the language and culture of his people, the Arrernte, who have always lived in Central Australia. “I want a normal life,” says the 10-year-old, “I want to be an Aboriginal.” But why is that so difficult? IN MY BLOOD IT RUNS portrays the boy and a society in which indigenous people are still discriminated against. In 2019, Dujuan gave a speech about this in front of the UN Human Rights Council. (KT)
