It’s the first season Wojtek is working in the strawberry fields in the south of Sweden with his parents. His status as a cheap hired hand is very apparent to the 18-year old here. When he falls in love with Annelie, the daughter of the landowner, of all people, everything becomes even more complicated. The two of them meet in secrecy because neither of their families and friends would accept their relationship. Finally, things escalate. The film sensitively portrays the detaching from family, big and small dreams and first love in a world full of prejudice and mutual distrust. (SW)
