13-year-old Emma moved from Mali to the Netherlands. She struggles to feel at home, as she experiences exclusion and hostility. This documentary shows her in dialogue with her mother, but also reflecting on the question: Who am I?
With a degree in theatre studies, Mirjam Marks has specialised in documentaries and series for a young audience. She lived in Suriname for six years, where she directed several documentaries for Danish Television, held workshops and founded the children’s museum “Villa Zapakara”. She is head of television at Cinekid festival, Amsterdam.

Damian lives with his grandparents and loves computers and science. He remembers his father only with the help of photographs and videos. In an attempt to get closer to him, Damian builds rockets to send to his father up in the sky.
Rotterdam-based Willem Baptist was born in 1979 and works as a director, script writer, producer and creative consultant. He graduated from Willem de Kooning School of Arts and received specialist training in workshops, such as Berlinale Talent Campus. Currently he works as advisor for the Dutch Cultural Media Fund, as creative producer at Tangerine Tree and directs episodes of the IKON youth documentary series Mensjesrechten/Just Kids.

A film depicting the correspondence between a father at the front and his children in their home village during the First World War. Between air raids and the trenches, everyday life continues.
Children have contributed significantly in the making of this film project by Belgian animation studio Camera-etc. From exploring the historical topic and the animation techniques to script and storyboard writing, the pupils have been involved at each production stage. They created the figurines from cardboard, animated them frame by frame and recorded sounds and voices for the soundtrack. The team of Camera-etc were responsible for editing and sound design.

Orlo loses a sibling before he even gets to see it for the first time. His parents are overwhelmed with grief. With the desire to help his family and make them “whole” again, Orlo goes off at night and does something unexpected.
Sara Kern, born 1989, graduated in film and TV directing from AGRFT Ljubljana, winning several scriptwriting awards during her studies. Her graduate short MAKS (2012), screened around the world and was distributed in Japan. Sara worked as freelance scriptwriter for Slovenian National Television for several years and is currently developing her first feature IVANA.

Twelve-year-old Che has a vivid imagination and a weakness for eerie and creepy things. From horror films to Halloween, this quirky documentary follows Che’s everyday life with his divorced parents, his siblings and his friends.
Elsbeth Fraanje, born 1979, is a documentary researcher and filmmaker. She graduated with honors in 2011 at Utrecht School of Arts, Audio Visual Media and is an alumnus of the Kids & Docs Workshop. Her graduation film BOUND TO DANCE was broadcasted worldwide by TV5Monde. Her debut documentary SUBURBAN GOD (2013) was selected for the Dutch Golden Calf Competition. CHE! is her first youth documentary.
