The girls of the all-girls-crew “Skate Kitchen” in New York City are casual, rough and extremely cool. 18-year-old Camille from Long Island, on the other hand, is one thing above all else: introverted. She pushes her passion, skating, through against her mother’s will, but she first has to earn her place in the crew, especially when a boy (Jaden Smith) comes into play. In this authentic and powerful skater film with great soundtrack, the girls play themselves. In rough but warm dialogues an unembellished view of girl friendships emerges.
