Poetic animated film about curiosity, the unknown and the joy of discovery
Luxembourg/France 2019. Directors: Jean-François Laguionie, Xavier Picard. Screenplay: Jean-François Laguionie, Anik Leray. 75 Min. Animated film. French Original version, with German voice-over (online optionally). Released for audiences from 6 years of age. Recommended for audiences from 10 years of age.
Where does the monkey prince come from, the one Tom finds exhausted on the beach? Are there other civilisations on the other side of the ocean? The scientists in Tom’s city think they have found what they are looking for. But Monkey Prince Laurence does not want to be researched and sets off with Tom to discover the unknown land. The film is a poetic, thought-provoking, wonderfully animated fable for the whole family which tells about curiosity, different perspectives on the world, fear, and prejudice. (StS)
