Evelyn and Will are computer scientists researching a system that functions like a human brain, while also being more powerful. When Will suffers a deadly wound during an assault, Evelyn makes a consequential decision.

TRANSCENDENCE engages less with the question of truth, and more with the theme of a nearly almighty Artificial Intelligence that has access to all computers in the world and, through the internet, controlling power over stock markets, scientific research and laboratories. The film shows the immense power of the internet, the current biggest virtual reality, and establishes that it can do more than be misused. On the contrary; was the A.I. maybe close to “restore” the world? (Clara, Rafael)
