Festival Week 2017

Sign up and Get Involved! Viewing, discussing, contributing: It is possible to get involved not just in the run-up to the festival, but also during the festival week. Workshops and discussion rounds are committed to help understand film better as a distinct form of art and as a medium. Watch out: There are still places available!

LUCAS Film Forum
Outstanding films cause a stir, they have lasting effects and provoke the urgent desire to talk about them. That is why the exchange between young film fans and with filmmakers is one of the most important aspects at LUCAS: In addition to regular film discussions after each LUCAS screening, a discussion lounge has been set up for the particular purpose of post-film discussions and evaluations. By prior appointment, groups can come together for intense film discussions at the »LUCAS Film Forum« during the festival week.

LUCAS Critics
Are you interested in becoming a young critic at a film festival? Would you like to delve into extraordinary films and skilfully put on paper your personal impressions, in form of a chorus of praise or a merciless roasting? LUCAS is inviting school classes (grade 8+) to get a close look at outstanding films from around the world under professional guidance as a practical approach to the subject of film criticism.

LUCAS film patrons
At LUCAS, pupils take charge in the cinema: School classes can commit themselves to a film of their choice from the competition programme prior to the festival and become its patron. At the film’s screening, pupils are responsible for the introduction, the moderation and the discussion: they hold the floor!
