»Focus.Film.Class«
UNDER THE SPELL OF IMAGES: Plan sequences with spectacular tracking shots and elaborate choreographies create a unique atmosphere. The stylistic device is the feeling of “being there”. The Social Studies course of the 10th year of the Helmholtz School presents 1917, the high relevant experience of war by two young soldiers, effectively told as a one-day mission in real time, without recognizable cuts.
Following on from the current DFF special exhibition “Long Takes. One Shots. No Cuts.”, the project class is dedicated to long, uncut tracking shots. In accompanying workshop units, the group examines film historical milestones, analyzes the creative use of camera movement and montage — and develops a feel for dramaturgy, visual language and teamwork through their own planned sequences. After all, a shared vision can only be achieved through teamwork. The »Focus.Film.Class« will present their results to the LUCAS audience following the screening of 1917. Selected by the group itself, the work offers breathtaking shots that were rehearsed with cast and crew for six months down to the last detail. The focus is on the experiences of young people at the front of the First World War – including many young people who volunteered. The screening at the DFF Cinema is open to the public and can be booked.
