At the heart of LUCAS are the international competitions with 20 short films as German premieres and 21 current feature-length films. The juries award prizes in the age sections »Kids«, »Teens« and »Youngsters«. The films will be shown in the original language with English subtitles and German voice-over (no voice-over for films recommended 14 and over).
Young curators are also involved at LUCAS this year: six young people from Kosovo, Slovenia and Germany, the »Young European Cinephiles«, present a film series on the theme of “Identity”. The »Klassiker.Klasse«, based on the current special exhibition WEIMAR WEIBLICH. Women and Gender Diversity in Modern Cinema (1918 — 1933) at the DFF, presents the film ALICE JUNIOR. Guests at LUCAS are the Federal Association of Youth and Film and the filmclub Blickwechsel Jetzt! This year, LUCAS is cooperating with the DIALOGMUSEUM Frankfurt. The »Minis« programme “Formenspiel” already foreshadows the new special exhibition LICHTSPIELPLATZ (from December 2023).
