TÊTES BRÛLÉES
TÊTES BRÛLÉES
How do you deal with the loss of a brother?
Twelve-year-old Eya grew up in a Muslim family in Brussels. She loves her brother Younès more than anything. He picks her up from school on his moped, brings her croissants in the morning and lets her wear his favorite shirt. And then he is suddenly gone. An accident took the 25-year-old’s life. Eya’s mother and sister cry, the father remains silent and prays, neighbors offer their condolences. And Eya watches and cannot believe that she has lost her brother. She finds comfort above all in Younès’ friends who lovingly accept her into their circle and are there for her. The film sensitively accompanies the girl in her grief and at the same time portrays the hopeful image of a community that gives strength and comfort. (KT)
