When his bel­oved dog Sparky is hit by a car while play­ing in the street, young Victor Frankenstein is devas­ta­ted. But then Victor lear­ns in school how to use elec­tri­ci­ty to move the mus­cles of dead crea­tures, and he has a bril­li­ant idea: with gre­at skill and power, he mana­ges to bring Sparky back to life. Motivated by this suc­cess and with his class­ma­te Edgar in tow, he aims to win his school’s sci­ence fair by brin­ging more ani­mals back to life. However, this pres­ents the duo with unfo­re­seen pro­blems. With whim­si­cal humor, Tim Burton’s stop-moti­on ani­ma­ted film deals with a gene­ra­ti­on that is often over­loo­ked in their pro­ces­sing of grief. (DF)
