BRIGHTLY SHINING
BRIGHTLY SHINING
“Everything great that happened in the world first took place in someone’s imagination.” (Astrid Lindgren)
Ronja lives with her father and her older sister Melissa in a small apartment. Christmas is just around the corner, but her father is once again unemployed. When Ronja helps him find a job selling Christmas trees, his luck finally seems to change. But as soon as the money arrives, her father reverts to his old ways and falls off the wagon. The girls are once again forced to fend for themselves. Ronja, a dreamer like her father, uses her vivid imagination as a shield and a means of escape. BRIGHTLY SHINING goes beyond a typical family story: The film addresses the harshness of addiction, but at the same time celebrates the power of imagination and faith in the kindness of strangers.
