THE SONGBIRDS’ SECRET
THE SONGBIRDS’ SECRET
Extraordinary stop-motion animation about the search for identity, family secrets and friendship
When nine-year-old Lucie and her mother Caroline move to the village of Bectoile she has no idea what adventures await her. Caroline leads an archaeological excavation there and at the same time returns to the place of her childhood. Lucie soon discovers a long-kept family secret. Together with her new friend Yann, she embarks on a search for clues through Blue Tit Valley. Antoine Lanciaux’ film captivates with its loving aesthetics: Artfully animated cut-out figures using stop-motion techniques and a playful country life are reminiscent of a pop-up picture book. Quirky animals, warm-hearted characters and a humorous and tender story make the film an experience for the whole family. (SAC)
