When: SU, Oct. 6 | 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Where: DFF – Deutsches Filminstitut & Filmmuseum
ON FESTIVAL SUNDAY (OCTOBER 6) LUCAS HAS A GREAT OFFER FOR FAMILIES!
A trip to the DFF means free admission for all family members from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., both to the DFF Cinema and to its permanent and special exhibitions. The »On Set« film parcours allows children and young people to get to know different film professions in workshops and hands-on activities.
Whether stunts, light, sound, special effects or equipment – on each floor of the DFF, young festival-goers and their families can look forward to various exciting stations on the different film disciplines. How does light change a room, the appearance of an object or a person? Can light be scary or funny? Why are sounds important? How are they recorded and how do we perceive them with or without a picture? How does a stunt double fall, why doesn’t a punch hurt? How do you move in front of the camera? And how does a whole group do it? It also gets hot and wet in front of the museum when professionals explain how special effects are created with fire and water.
At the DFF cinema, »LUCAS for Families« has something for every age group. In the morning, Susanna Haneder, production designer of GREETINGS FROM MARS (recommended from age 8), will present the competition film and answer questions about her work. After the screening, she will demonstrate how to make planet (models) yourself in a craft workshop. Afterwards, the »Minis« short film program “Stillness and Movement” (recommended from age 3) gives the youngest visitors their first experience at the cinema. After the Heist film THE PINCHERS’ HIGH VOLTAGE HEIST (recommended from age 9), which is also in competition, there will be a unique opportunity to ask the film’s Swedish director, Leif Lindblom, questions. In the afternoon, the competition film IF ONLY I COULD HIBERNATE (recommended from age 14) tells the story of young Ulzii, who wants to improve his social opportunities in the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar through a physics scholarship.
Those who want to explore the variety of visual media of the 18th and 19th century as well as the invention of film and would like to learn more about the making of films, can explore the permanent exhibition on two floors. The special exhibition is also exciting NEW VOICES. GERMAN CINEMA SINCE 2000 about the multifaceted and diverse film production in Germany since the turn of the millennium.
