When: SO, Sep. 28 | 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Where: DFF – Deutsches Filminstitut & Filmmuseum
ON FESTIVAL SUNDAY (SEPTEMBER 28), LUCAS HAS A GREAT OFFER FOR FAMILIES! »Attention recording!« lets children and young people get to know different film professions in workshops and hands-on activities. A trip to the DFF means free admission for all family members from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., both to the DFF cinema and to the exhibitions.
On festival Sunday, it’s all about seeing, asking questions and taking part. On the floors of the DFF – Deutsches Filminstitut & Filmmuseum (Schaumainkai 41, Frankfurt), young film fans can look forward to stations on film professions. There will be workshops on camera, lighting, stunts, special effects and much more. How do I move in front of the camera? What signs should I look out for? A group will act out a scene together, which should work without editing, in a single take.
LUCAS is showing films for all ages at the DFF cinema. It starts at 10 a.m. with the »Minis« short film program. MARY ANNING (recommended for age 7) from the »Kids« competition follows at 11:30 a.m. The animated film tells the true story of a girl who turns the world of science upside down with her fossil finds. Another animated film from the »Kids« competition starts at 13:30. THE SONGBIRDS’ SECRET (recommended for age 7) is about the search for identity, family secrets and friendship. CHRISTY (recommended from age 15), a competition film from the »Teens« section about two brothers who have to find each other again after a long separation, will be screened in the afternoon.
If you want to find out more about early visual media and filmmaking before or after your visit to the cinema, you can explore the permanent exhibition on film history on two floors. The temporary exhibition “Long Takes. One Shots. No Cuts.” about film sequences that do not require editing is only recommended for children aged twelve and over and is therefore not suitable for younger children. There is plenty for kids to learn and try out in the many workshops and hands-on activities on filmmaking. More information about the workshops will be available on the LUCAS website shortly before the festival starts.
The film screenings on SO, Sep. 28 can be booked by telephone on 069 961 220–678 or by e‑mail to lucas-info@dff.film reserve. Keyword: LUCAS Festival Sunday
Workshops can only be booked on site. Admission starts at 9:45 a.m.
