Laini lives in Wiesbaden with her adoptive parents Anni und Henning. On her twelfth birthday, she is given an old photo album that leads her to a mysterious trace of her family’s history. With her new friends Michael and Paul, she experiences an adventurous journey to find herself a film about the power of community and the acceptance of otherness, which encourages the belief in one’s own strengths and dreams. From brainstorming to filming and postproduction, more than 300 children and teenagers from the region have worked on the participatory project.

Toni Kurtin supported the assistant director in television film productions of the Bavaria Filmstudios and freelances in directing and screenwriting. He currently is undertaking his master degree in Time-based Media, specializing in film, and teaches film at the Hochschule Mainz. He also teaches “camera-acting” at the Scaramouche Academy in Wiesbaden.

Seemingly on a whim, the rebellious Bianka kidnaps a baby from a park in Budapest. Shortly after, she meets the quiet, slow Laci, whose uncle is exploiting him as a wage laborer. The odd duo poses as the biological parents and try to take off in a stolen caravan. They practice family life incognito, but their playing with fire threatens to fail. Manuel Kinzer was born in 1977 in Kassel. He studied Visual Communication at the Kunsthochschule Kassel and Camera at the Deutsche Film und Fernsehakademie Berlin. In 2007 he co-founded the production company »FILMGESTALTEN« with Florian Gerstenberg – the production company through which he has produced numerous short films since. DARÍO is his directing debut.
Jorge A. Trujillo Gil was born in Colombia in 1987 and grew up in Spain. He studied Audiovisual Communication in Salamanca and Film/Politics in Barcelona. He also participated in a number of social and journalistic projects in Spain and Colombia. In addition, he worked as an assistant director on a number of films. DARÍO is his directing debut.

Her youth documentary DAT HAAR! was broadcast on television and screened at the Netherlands Film Festival. Her musical documentary KENDIS celebrated its premiere at the Cinekid Festival.

Aldo Sotelo Lázaro was born in Mexico City. He has graduated in communication studies at the Tecnológico de Monterrey and took part in a number of film workshops in Mexico and Cuba. He mainly worked as a journalist for international media and produced documentary films. POLVO DE ESTRELLAS is his first fictive short film.

Jens Pedersen studied at the Roskilde University and the San Francisco State University and directed a number of documentaries. One episode of his documentary series FAITH HOPE AFGHANISTAN won the audience award as well as the award for Best Documentary at the Buster Film Festival 2014.
