Director

Ignas Meilūnas (*1985, Lithuania) studied computer science and has been working as a freelance animator and director in 3D and stop motion since 2011. His first short film, WOODS, won the award for best animation film at the Lithuanian Film Academy in 2015.

And while Sara does not seem to be scared, nine-year-old Hugo and his cousins come up with a plan to not let that happen. Funny dialogue and a humorous adventure await as the film tells a story of a goodbyes and the joy of family bonds within a big family.

Adrià Garcia, Victor Maldonado, and Alfredo Torres founded the HEADLESS collective in 2008 after their debut film NOCTURNA won the Goya Award. Listed among the top 10 emerging animation film studios by Variety in 2010, HEADLESS regularly works with US studios such as DreamWorks, Paramount, and Nickelodeon, as well as with directors such as Oscar®-winning director Guillermo Del Toro. Their style is characterised by their delight in dark humour and the absurd.

Director

Lisa Delhorn began as a caster and has since worked in various film trades but most recently as a post-production assistant for well-known US TV formats. Jérémy Paquet studied film at the University of Montréal and has also trained himself independently in graphic design, film editing, and visual effects in various projects. After the joint post-production of the television series, THE MORNING SHOW and BIG LITTLE LIES, MERCREDI is their debut as a directing duo, which they also wrote and produced together.

Director

After his studies, Andrew Krakower gained attention with his first film, THE CHILDREN’S WAR (2010), which was honored by the UN, among others, for its look at the horrors of the Ugandan civil war. Krakower then spent eight years writing, teaching, and researching in Nepal. YARNE can be considered a cinematic product of these times.

Natalia Beliaeva (*1984, Moscow) studied directing and cinematography and has made more than 10 short films as screenwriter, director, editor, and producer. Her short films deal with big themes like selflessness in love, forgiveness, or the equality of people.

An island in the Northern Atlantic: Maïja is waiting for the return of her father, who is a sailor. She loves to play with a small wooden ship that he gave her as a present. But the longer she has to wait, the less fun she has playing. 

Director:

Arthur Nollet (*1995, Montélimar, France) says he lived all over the world before he came back to France to study film and become a storyteller. MAÏJA is his diploma thesis as well as his first animated short film. In the future, Nollet wants to focus on storyboard, editing, and set design in order to develop as a director.
