MINIS PROGRAM 2

MINIS PROGRAM 2: THE WORLD IN SHORTS

Running time: approx. 20min. Recommended from age 4

SUN, 22.9 | every half hour between 2pm and 5pm | Caligari (Wiesbaden)

Short films from all over the world, diverse, colourful and inspiring: At the World Children’s Day Festival in Wiesbaden on Sunday, 22 September, four films from Argentina, Germany, Slovenia and Russia will bring the screen of the Caligari FilmBühne to life. In KOYAA – ELUSIVE PAPER (SI 2019. D: Kolja Saksida) the paper wriggles away and disappears, it just doesn’t act like how it’s supposed to! A cloud researcher examines in HOW MUCH DOES THE CLOUD WEIGH? (RU 2019. D: Nina Bisyarina) a bunny cloud which gives him riddles. In YIKÁSDÁHÍ – AWAITS THE DAWN (AR 2018. D: Gabriela Clar) it gets mysterious: According to a Navajo legend, a coyote steals a god’s sack full of stars and confuses light and darkness. It’s also dark but as colorful as the day in NEST (DE 2019. D: Sonja Rohleder), when a peacock is in search of a female in the jungle.

The children of the “cinephil” day-care center, Grüne Soße, are between eight and nine years old and already real experts in art and experimental film. Four years ago, the group visited the DFF MiniFilmclub for aesthetic film education at pre-school age and infected their day-care with film fever. Since then, the books have been complemented by a growing DVD collection of short experimental films. For LUCAS – International Festival for Young Film Fans, the MiniFilmclub alumni have selected their favourite films from the collection and compiled them into a program for four- to six-year-olds. Participation desired: interactive parts complete the program.

On a family holiday on a Dutch island, the pondering ten-year-old Sam meets Tess, a fun-loving, fascinating and somehow strange girl who lives with her mother. Tess has a crazy plan that Sam is supposed to help her with: she wants to get to know her father, who is on holiday on the island and doesn’t know anything about his daughter. In the original story, the protagonists experience a summer adventure full of charm, heart and humour. Light-footed and profound at the same time, the film explores universal questions about family and friendship. (HA)

INVISIBLE SUE

INVISIBLE SUE

DE/LU 2018. D: Markus Dietrich. A: Markus Dietrich. 93 min. Feature. German OV with Eng. ST. Suitable from age 6. Recommended from age 9

There’s plenty of superheroes already. Time for more stories about superheroines! For example, about twelve-year-old Sue, who can suddenly become invisible after a failed experiment in her mother’s research laboratory. Sounds like a freak or a monster? Not really. The worst thing is that the girl has felt for a long time anyway that nobody really sees and pays attention to her. However, when her mother is kidnapped, Sue’s super power is suddenly in demand. With her new friends App and Tobi she takes up the pursuit. And then suddenly, a lot of people are chasing them. (StS)
