DAYS OF THE BAGNOLD SUMMER
British weird mother-son story with laconic humour
United Kingdom 2020. Director: Simon Bird. Screenplay: Lisa Owens, Joff Winterhart. 86 Min. Fiction. English Original with subtitles. Released for audiences from 12 years of age. Recommended for audiences from 14 years of age.
Daniel Bagnold must face the worst of all evils– buying shoes with his mother. And, shortly after that, the planned Florida holiday with his notoriously absent father is cancelled. His nerves are shot. What next? Six weeks of summer break with his mother Sue, who simply bores him, doesn’t understand his love for metal, and on top of that, refuses to listen and starts dating his history teacher Mr. Porter, despite Daniel’s vehement rejection. All signs point towards a brewing storm. Especially, when his best (only) friend Ky is also taking it too far. (AB)
