In New Delhi, three children help each other make their dreams come true.
Santoo wants to build his own swimming pool, his friend Chintoo is shooting a documentary, and their friend Fiza wants to play cricket for the national team. But how do you get enough water, how do you build a pool, and who is even allowed to go to tryouts? Santoo, Chintoo, and Fiza can’t really count on their parents’ approval, so they help each other and seek support from different adults. With subtle allusions to typical Bollywood stylistic devices, TO FETCH A PAIL OF WATER weaves many small stories from the reality of Indian society into the narrative, making it clear how different the worlds of the three children are. Biography
Abhay Punjabi initially studied biology before turning to filmmaking. His interest in people and the environment is evident in the more than 30 films he has made for NGOs to date. He has also directed two award-winning short films. In his feature film debut, TO FETCH A PAIL OF WATER, he tells the story of the friendship between three children, based on his own experiences.
