DER WEG VON HAND UND FUSS

DE 2022. Directors: Barbara Englert, Pola Sell. Screenplay: Barbara Englert, Pola Sell. 44 Min. Documentary. Original Version. FSK 6. Recommended from age 12.

The hybrid format of documentary film and animation (AnimaDok) portrays strong women and girls from different backgrounds who develop enormous powers through martial arts, concentration and meditation. The protagonists talk about very personal experiences: They speak of their fears, mental illnesses such as depression and eating disorders, their exclusion and loneliness, and even their longing for death. Through martial arts, however, they have found a way to deal with their problems that brings them back to life again and again.
