KNEE-DEEP IN TALL TALES

14-year-old Jordan is bored with coun­try life in the small vil­la­ge of Mornas. His mother is a nur­se and fre­quent­ly absent, so he spends a lot of time with his best fri­end Patrick. Most of the time, the two of them gam­ble on their shared con­so­le, which they have named Jessica. But when Jessica breaks down, they deci­de that Jordan should fake an ill­ness so that they can set up an online dona­ti­on box to buy a new con­so­le with the money. As Jordan’s popu­la­ri­ty grows, so does the lie con­s­truct. Will Jordan and Patrick’s fri­end­ship stand up to it? This bril­li­ant come­dy plays with com­mon boun­da­ries and breaks some rules of decen­cy. (KP)
