IT TAKES A WHOLE VILLAGE TO RAISE A CHILD? NO NEED! GEORGIE RAISES HERSELF ALL ALONE
Georgie doesn’t need anyone, let alone an adult, to tell her what she should or shouldn’t do. Since her mother’s death, the twelve-year-old has been living alone in a council apartment in London, trickily deflecting calls from concerned social workers. She earns a little money by stealing. Only sometimes is Georgie sad when she listens to an old voice message from her mother. Then one day a strange man shows up at her door claiming to be her father. Is he a gangster? Or even a vampire? Slowly she gets involved with Jason, who is sometimes much more of a child than she is. Summery, light and full of humor, the film tells of the rapprochement between the two and their growing up together and becoming children again. (KT)
