A POSH NEIGHBOUR’S HOUSE, EMPTY FOR THE SUMMER, PROMISES SOPHIE AN ESCAPE FROM HER DREARY EVERYDAY LIFE
15-year-old Sophie lives with her mother, stepfather, five siblings and a baby in a tiny flat. They don’t have much money, so they can’t take a holiday either. When Sophie learns from her friend Jade that she and her parents will soon be going to their holiday home, she sees the opportunity and, in an unguarded moment, grabs the spare keys to the well-heeled family’s house. While making herself comfortable there, she meets — as fate would have it — Jade’s older brother Stéphane, who was also planning to spend the summer at home. Instead of driving her away, Stéphane leaves the door open and invites her to a summer Sophie never expected. (RW)
