LUCAS for families
LUCAS KEEPS AN UNBEATABLE FAMILY OFFER ON HAND FOR THE FESTIVAL SUNDAY! Because a trip to the DFF on the 3rd of October means free entrance to the DFF Cinema as well as the Permanent and Temporary Exhibition for all family members until 5 pm as well.
Temporary Exhibition: CATASTROPHE. What Comes After The End?
Only the tip of the Statue of Liberty protrudes from an ice desert, Los Angeles lies in ruins, Pompeii is engulfed in smoke and fire, the luxury liner is drifting up the hull: the exhibition CATASTROPHE. What comes after the end? focuses on disaster films. The extinction of mankind, of life on Earth, the complete destruction of flora and fauna by a man-made or natural “catastrophe” – this scenario has fascinated filmmakers all over the world for decades and with them millions of moviegoers, who are thrilled again and again by the staged catastrophes.
On two floors the permanent exhibition presents exciting exhibits, operable models of historical apparatuses and interactive stations. Large film projections invite visitors to explore moving images and experience the fascination of film as a medium.
HOW CAN DOCUMENTARIES REACH THEIR YOUNG AUDIENCE? At LUCAS #44 two panels pursue this question: from a film educator’s perspective and their immediate experiences with young audiences and from a filmmaker’s point of view – not only regarding the narrative strategies but also the challenges in financing and distribution.
UNDERSTANDING THE TRUTH AND REALITY OF DOCUMENTARY NARRATIVE STORY – DOK.education follows this task in the “Schule des Sehens”. The International Documentary Film Festival Munich’s online excursion is hosted by LUCAS.
DOK.education, the International Documentary Film Festival Munich’s educational sector, offers an online platform, which students can access from their classrooms, in their homes, or as part of their homework. The students watch a documentary suitable for their age, which tells a story with an artistic interest about young people’s lifes. The teachers decide whether they want to make an additional lesson out of it, visit a video seminar with filmmakers, or work with the short film using teaching material. The program is suitable for up to four lessons. Program participation is free.
