Nina makes it through, she lets the tough Vassil teach her how to steal. She confides in her friend, the stray dog, her plan to escape one day – but then she is caught robbing a friendly woman. (WB)

Director

Hristo Simeonov (*1985, Bulgaria) is a graduate of the Berlinale and Sarajevo Talents. His cooperation with human rights organizations in Bulgaria has resulted in several documentaries and videos on social issues. His previous short films have been shown at numerous international festivals. His debut short film, THE SON, won, among others, the short film main prize at the Cottbus Film Festival. NINA is his fifth short film and his feature film debut is in development.

Director

After a school career in an ultra-orthodox environment, Shahar Arapov completed his bachelor’s degree in animation at the Israeli School of Audio & Visual Arts (Sapir College). As a child, Arapov found creative expression in writing and drawing and decided at the age of ten that he wanted to become an animation film director. SEND ME AN ANGEL is his first short film.

Turkey offers Emir a new home and İlyas and Ahmet are great buddies. When the trial training for the football team is coming up, İlyas even gives him his new shoes with studs. And then of all things, this happens: İlyas’s spare shoes fall into the river. (JP)

Abdullah Şahin (*1987, Turkey) studied film and television at the Istanbul Șehir University. His first short film, PLUS ONE, was screened at international film festivals and won Best Short Film at the Focus on Ability Short Film Festival. CLEATS is his second short film and has already been shown successfully at festivals.

Milad Hosseinzade (*1991, Isfahan, Iran) is a cinematographer and director. He has completedcourse at the Iranian Youth Cinema Society and has a bachelor degree in graphics. He is a specialized director for film advertising and has created numerous teasers for domestic film festivalsHosseinzade is also an instructor of basics of photography. He has directed several documentariesamong which BE EFTEKHAR IRAN was broadcast at the IRIB.

Director

Simone Bozzelli (*1994, Silvi, Italy) has been a film enthusiast since childhood. After studying media design and multimedia art in Milan and the two short film projects MIO FRATELLO and LORIS STA BENE, he has been studying directing at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome since 2018.

Can Deniz Atici (*1988, Turkey) studied at Binghamton University in New York and Boğaziçi University, Istanbul. After his studies, Atici worked in Istanbul as assistant director on regional and international feature films and co-directed the short film MUSEUM OF BROKEN LOVE. BLACK BOX is Atici’s first short film, currently he is working on his feature film debut as director, WHIRLPOOL.

Tanja Hurrle (*1998, Germany) has been studying Motion Pictures at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences since 2017. Hurrle’s first student short film, FISH-BOWLE, was shown at numerous international film festivals and won the German Youth Film Award 2019. BANDSALAD was created in the 5th semester of her film studies and premieres at LUCAS.
