CLASS TRIP(-DYNAMICS) MEET CULTURE OF MEMORY

As usu­al for high school gra­dua­tes in Israel, Frisch, Nitzan and Ido go on a field trip to Poland with their class to visit for­mer con­cen­tra­ti­on and exter­mi­na­ti­on camps. An con­tem­po­ra­ry wit­ness is also on board. While the trip takes them to important Holocaust memo­ri­als such as Majdanek or Auschwitz and the young adults are con­fron­ted with a part of their iden­ti­ty, the group dyna­mics and con­flicts typi­cal of school trips deve­lop at the same time. DELEGATION nego­tia­tes sen­si­tively and authen­ti­cal­ly bet­ween a see­mingly sta­tic cul­tu­re of remem­brance and the con­cerns and desi­res of three young Israelis. (KP)
